DIVISION:  Facility and Design


DEPARTMENT: School Plant Services


REPORTS TO:   Director of Facility Design, Grounds Foreman


SUPERVISES:  


EDUCATION:   

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License/CDL License, Class A

 

EXPERIENCE: Back ground or experience in building grounds maintenance and/or installation

Position Function/Purpose

To maintain crew in commitment, to maintain all district grounds and properties in a safe

  instructionally appropriate, acceptable level.

 

Other duties as assigned by the Grounds Foreman, or Director of Facility Design.

 

Qualification Requirements

         Minimum Certification/Education:

·         High School Diploma or GED

·         Valid Texas Driver’s License/CDL License, Class A

         Special Knowledge/Skills:

·         Specific knowledge of tractor and turf equipment

·         Specific knowledge of standard landscape construction techniques and plant or landscape maintenance

·         Positive attitude among district personnel and demonstrates a willingness to work

 

         Minimum Experience:

·         Back ground or experience in building grounds maintenance and/or installation

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations will be made if necessary.  while performing the duties of this job.

·         Standing, repeated bending

·         Reaching stretching, reaching overhead

·         Digging, reaching below knees

·         Moderate lifting and carrying

·         Use of fingers, arms, legs

Regular attendance required.

Equipment used

·         General use of grounds maintenance hand and power tools, shovels, spades, weed eaters, etc.

·         Tractor, pump truck, pick-up truck, stake bed, mowing machine, mower edger, striping machine, tandem axle trailer or other similar vehicle

·         Ladders, lifts

 

Work Environment

·         Hot, cold, dirt, dust, gas fumes, chemicals and other natural elements

·         Summer heat and winter cold

·         Flexible working hours and overtime required

·         Outside/Inside

·         Work on ladders and open riding equipment
